My presentations
These are designed to be informative, educational and entertaining and reflect my varied interests. They show my approach to nature and photography, which very much relies on what I see in my mind and camera. All presentations are digital and I bring some prints and books for informal display.
My presentations include images and insight from a Professional Safari Guide perspective and photographer’s perspective. By showing a series of images rather than just those that are for me the most successful, I try to provide ideas for less experienced photographers as well as the more experienced. I enjoy evenings with an interactive audience, with questions and discussions throughout. I am able to provide the presentations in person or remotely. Please contact me to discuss options.
As a judge
It is so important to consider the photographer’s intent and what the image conveys to me. I believe too much value can be placed on marks and whilst willing to mark or select winners I very much enjoy pure critique with the opportunity to engage briefly with the photographer.
I aim to encourage less experienced members to progress by providing ideas they may choose to experiment with. For experienced members, I want to see images that have that something special, a personal interpretation, or the ‘wow’ factor. Critique sessions provide a different approach and can encourage members to be more experimental in their approach.

DorkingCamera (@DorkingCameraClub) posted: A big thanks to Jason Wharam @daggaboyx for his awesome guest speaker session last night. He spoke about ‘the best camera is the one on you’ – mobile phones are fine! Plus the devastation of poaching, David Attenborough & showed stunning photos of African animals in the wild
